We purchased our pup from The Gaskell's in 2018. our experience was top notch, the communication and planning for us to retrieve her was well planned and ensured all of our girls needs were more than met! We took our time and carefully chose Ruckerhill, luckily they approved of us as well. River is the smartest pup, (due to their amazing routine they raise pups on )potty trained at 10 weeks, sit at 9 weeks, right here (from day one), and we've taught her down, wait and stay ...all in under a month. We are so lucky to have found such an honest JRT breeder with the highest standards for their line. Working with Don and Sheryl was a pleasure, they will be first on our list for a companion!
I can't begin to list all of the positive interactions or professionalism this breeder exhibits, take one look at their website and it becomes clear. This is their passion and they are experts at what they do!

Still debating on a name but he’s doing great! He’s sitting and speaking to hand signals, comes quickly to a whistle, is right about 6 lbs, plays so well with our girl, and is doing really well with potty training.. I haven’t been this happy since before we lost our Gizmo last year 🤗❤️ Also, our Vet absolutely raved about you guys. They were impressed with his paperwork and said “we hit the breeder jackpot.” 😉

Hello Sheryl & Don!
Meant to ping you guys sooner and let you know puppy (Vicky) is doing splendid! Her official name now (per Jen) is Heidi, and she's been nothing but an absolute delight 😀. Spunky & smart, we couldn't be happier with her. She's already learning a few commands, walks on her leash like a pro, sleeps in her crate, doing great w/ potty training, and was a hit at her vet appointment! Jen is so happy, and so am I. It's like she's been a part of our family forever. Thanks again for such a beautiful jack, I woulda taken them all if I could have!

Max is so wonderful! We took him to the dog park in Cherokee Park yesterday and he had a ball running with the other dogs. He also did great in his first class at PetSmart last night. He was fantastic when I bathed him also.
You are the best! We are so happy and so is Max!
Thanks so much!

Hi Sheryl & Don,
Thank you so much for such a beautiful, healthy, energetic puppy! Olivia is adjusting quickly to her new home, and everyone that sees her instantly fall in love. She is so smart, we are only at 11 weeks and she already knows "sit, come, lay down, & we are working on stay & drop it". She is getting somewhat comfortable with her leash and collar and I can't wait for this snow/ice to go away so we can explore more outside. Her housebreaking is also going extremely well. Since we have had her she has only had 1 accident in her crate and a few in the house. She sleeps through the night in her crate and never gives us an issue going in her crate...even for time-outs! The vet really enjoys our visits and compliments me on a beautiful well behaved puppy.
Thank you!
Warm Regards,

How the time flies! It has been close to two months since we got Tucker, and we have enjoyed every minute of it and cannot express just how much we love him! We wanted to thank you again for raising such a wonderful puppy. He is such a good little boy, and gets along great with our Jake. I want to send some pictures but they are on Anthony's phone. I will forward them soon. Jake is slowly progressing with his cerebellar ataxia, and I have a bad feeling that Tucker is going to have a hard time losing him. I have never had two dogs at one time, but the combination of these two boys is really good. You can tell that they really love each other, even though they fight sometimes. We are back and forth on if we want to get another dog after we lose Jake. We will see how we feel when the time comes, and how Tucker handles it. We definitely would not be looking for a puppy again. Two puppies in one year is enough!! If we decide to go that route when the time comes, we will contact you about your thoughts on it and if you have any older dogs available. I don't know if it is a fluke to have two JRT boys that get along so well.
I hope you are both doing well and having a nice summer! We are still planning to take a trip next fall back East and would like to stop by and see you. We will keep in touch!
Thanks again!

Freckles is doing well. He has settled in and so have we. He’s a lover. Very good dog. You were right about the pan and horse pellets. He went right in the pan and did his business. Best trained dog I’ve ever seen!! He eats but not much. He’s not interested in the Kong. We got him a squeaky tennis ball. We threw it and he did fetch and return. He’s very laid back for a Jack Russell- but that suits us fine.
Thank you. Merry Christmas.

Sheryl & Don,
We had a great time as well meeting and talking with you both!!! You are amazing people and we have such respect for you and the time, effort and energy that you have put into the dogs. We have decided to officially name her Brazen Beatrice Blue Grass Belle….we know such a mouthful for such a little girl, however she fits it perfectly. Jazz and Lil seem more intrigued by her than anything…watching her like they are at a tennis match….hilarious. They have each put her in her place, once when she wanted to take Jazz’s ball and another time when she attempted to eat Lil’s food. She got her “spanking” from Jazz and Lil and learned the rules. We are teaching her to sit and wait like Jazz and Lil do before they eat but Beatrice is like calling out a hog….when it is time to eat she is not messing around. But I can tell how much you worked with her these last three months because she did not cry once on the way home and we stopped at a hotel in Indianapolis the first night and she slept pretty good. This is day #4 and she is already sleeping about 8-9 and not getting up to go potty. She has been going outside with Jazz and Lil and going just as they do…Jason and I are impressed. Very few accidents in the house. She went to Jason’s baseball game the other night and was the hit of the party….neighbors come over to see her….it’s is good and Jazz and she sleep butt to butt each night. It is very sweet. Lil is even sparking up. Beatrice found one of Corrinne’s pacifiers from long ago under her bed and came out chewing it…cute.
I also bought Bea a stuffed squirrel that Bea didn’t care about so Lil has taken it, then, just like kids, Bea wanted it back but I truly believe that Lil is not giving it back…it is pretty funny to watch. I know Bea is going to be a happy girl here and I think it will just take some time before Jazz and Lil will end up playing but we are patient…I thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts. There is definitely pep back in our household and I think that was just what we needed. And last but not least this was a perfect time to get Bea as the kids are really stepping up….as much as for 4 year olds. They watch her and care for her really well. It is very cool to see and Bea loves them.
With our sincerest gratitude

Hi,
Just wanted to personally email you and thank you for the fantastic dog you have given us. My mother has already emailed you on a previous occasion, but I had to take it upon myself to personally thank you for our little boy. Harley (Conquest Cigar) was born out of Hanna, on January 27 2011. We have had him since April 2011, when my mother went down to Hamilton with my grandmother for surgery and went down to visit the pups/ pick him up. He is the most FANTASTIC dog I could ever imagine. I work at the local humane society and see plenty of dogs come through. Harley comes for visits with me at work, helping to socialize dogs and test cats for households with dogs. He is supremely pleasant and very laid-back.
We recently got professional photos taken at a fundraiser for the humane society which I work at and I thought I would attach a few for you to see!!! I must say, Harley shocks people with his pleasant demeanor everywhere he goes. As soon as he came into the photo studio, the photographer said “oh here we go, another jack russell”. Little did he know that Harley is a special Jack Russell and that he was in for a surprise. I just said “you wait” and followed the photographer into the studio. At this point his collar and leash were both removed, and the photographer asked me if I could TRY to keep him in one place so he could take a photo. Well, Harley wanted to prove this man wrong in the worst way, and not only did he stand and lie down exactly where he was told to on command, he would also direct his head in the direction the photographer wanted. Needless to say, the photographer was in shock with our little boy. He has done this to people on countless occasions.
I have big plans for our Harley! We have already conquered a lot of tricks together; the usual sit, lie down, and shake were menial tasks for Harley, who has already learnt to stand, play dead, roll over, crawl, twirl, and jump into our arms on command. I have plans to start him in agility this summer (hopefully), and also plan to get him certified as a therapy dog once he gets his puppy jitters out of his legs (he still gets a little excited meeting new people).
I just wanted to thank you for our amazing Harley, who is the most loving dog I have ever met. He is such a suck, he even asks to be picked up and likes to give us “hugs” where he will put his arms around our necks and rest with his head on our shoulder. This is his favourite thing to do, and he always has to give us a hug as soon as we walk in the door. He is very special, and I cannot imagine our lives without him. I cannot stress what a fantastic, amazing, loving, gentle, friendly dog you have given us.
Thank you so much for Harley,

Oliver continues to delight us. He’s maturing mentally very fast and seems perfectly content to amuse himself with his toys or a chewy, but loves nothing more than to snuggle on the couch with Joe and watch soccer or golf and doze off.
He’s walking very well now and his puppy ADD is abating – he no longer has to investigate EVERY SINGLE PEBBLE AND STICK. Gideon has given him a couple of firm smackdowns so he’s getting less mouthy with him as well as us.
His 15 week vet check went great and Dr. Bischoff and the staff just love him. I think now they know what I was talking about when I said I was looking for a “real” Jack Russell!
I’ve attached a photo I took yesterday. As you can see, he’s pretty comfie with the cat, but don’t worry, I don’t take my eyes off him when he’s around her. I have caught them grooming each other, which is pretty funny to watch!
Best regards always,
Pam, Kentucky

Hi Gaye & Sheryl,
Leo has really settled in…sleeping thru the night with no problem, he sleeps overnight in his crate by our bed. He asks to go outside when he needs to & generally kicks up a ruckus at playtime. He is eating well and looks like he has grown already. he loves pulling out sticks in the garden and running around with them. He is a chewer, but we have some chewy toys for him rather than chewing on us or our slippers.
He went to the vet on Thursday & was pronounced fit and healthy & all the folks at the vets admired him. We have a schedule for shots etc. He is really good meeting new people. He is a hunter and gets very excited, when there are squirrels around. He loves to run at top speed, we call it going cracker dog…our old dog used to do that too. He also could be a digger….we are discouraging as it is in our flower beds!
All in all we are charmed, he is a grand dog, feisty and fun loving and smart. We will need to keep in on a long leash at the cottage to start with or he will be off in the bush for sure chasing who knows what.
Will send more pics soon…but very cute…spots are more defined especially on his one ear…plus he thinks he is the bees knees.
Best regards,
Sue & Geoff, Canada

To Whom It May Concern;
I have known Don and Sheryl Gaskell for around seven years and have watched them grow with their terriers. They take wonderful care of their terriers and do not have too many litters per year, usually about two litters a year. I have been to their kennel and it is well planned out and very clean. They also have large areas outside for all the dogs to be able to get good exercise.
These are two people who understand what it means to preserve and protect the working terrier by getting out in the field on a regular basis. I feel this is a benefit to a breeder because they truly know what these dogs are bred for and can continue to teach new owner what it means to be owned by these wonderful terriers.
Don and Sheryl will be an asset to the JRTCA breeders listing by their excellent example of what a breeder should be.
Sincerely,
BK – Indiana

To Whom It May Concern,
In the fall of 2004 I lost my beloved 17 year old Jack Russell, Molly.
It was devastating to me, as we had had so many wonderful years together. I knew that someday I would want another Jack Russell.
I had purchased Molly at 8 weeks of age from Jean Coltrin of Calistoga JRT’s in California. I do not know if Jean is still raising Jack Russell's, but purchasing from her was a good experience. I had never owned a Jack Russell before, but had seen one at a horse show and was attracted to the breed.
Jean was knowledgeable about the breed, and spent a lot of time helping me to decide whether a Jack Russell was the right breed for me. She showed her dogs, and did some hunting, and raised beautiful, quality dogs. In the end, it was the right breed and Molly was the right dog for me.
After Molly passed, and the time was right, I started my search for another Jack Russell girl to fill the void of my lost friend. I called several ads in the newspaper, and was disappointed in much of what I heard over the phone. Many represented their “Jack Russells” as purebred dogs, but had no knowledge of the pedigrees, or conformation, and were only interested in the quick sale of a puppy. It was not a good experience.
I was about to give up when I answered an ad placed by Ruckerhill.
After several phone conversations, I arranged to visit their kennel.
The dogs presented to me for consideration were healthy and were well cared for. The dispositions of the dogs impressed me a lot. The kennels were clean. Don and Sheryl talked about pedigrees. They showed me the Breeders Code of Ethics, and were very passionate when discussing the preservation of the breed. They educated me about BAER and CERF testing. I was once again dealing with breeders who were professional in their representation of the breed.
I was very impressed with the dogs, the kennel, Don and Sheryl, and made my decision to apply for one of the available girls. I was presented with a packet of information from the JRTCA about the breed, and they urged me to join the JRTCA, which I later did.
I was very excited, and pleased to be accepted and am now the very proud co-owner of Ruckerhill Tessa. She has been so wonderful, and has been such a joy, that I am currently in the process of purchasing a second girl from Ruckerhill JRT’s..
I have and will continue to recommend Ruckerhill JRT’s to people who are interested in purchasing a Jack Russell puppy, because of the professional manner in which their breeding program is run, and their absolute dedication to the breed.
Sincerely,
KM – Kentucky
